A low doc commercial loan is designed for business owners who cannot easily provide full financial statements or recent tax returns. Instead of the usual paperwork, the lender relies on other evidence that you can repay the loan, so approval is usually quicker and the documents list is shorter.
Who it suits
- Sole traders and contractors with irregular or recently changed income
- Business owners whose tax returns do not yet reflect current earnings
- Newer businesses and growing companies buying vehicles, machinery or equipment
- Anyone who needs to move quickly on a commercial asset
What you need to qualify
Lenders generally want to see at least one of the following:
- Asset backing. You own property or other assets the lender can take into account, which is why this option often suits property owners.
- Checkable credit on a similar loan. You can show a verifiable repayment history on a comparable loan, such as an existing equipment, vehicle or commercial finance contract.
- A deposit. Putting money towards the purchase lowers the lender’s risk and can open doors that would otherwise be closed.
What to expect
Rates are usually higher than a full doc loan because the lender is taking on more risk, and each lender sets its own limits on loan size, asset type and term. We compare the lenders that offer low doc commercial finance and match you with the one whose requirements fit your situation. Approval is always subject to lender criteria.
